Football in Somalia

The sport of football in the country of Somalia is run by the Somali Football Federation. The association administers the national football team, as well as the Premier League.

In many parts of the country, including the capital Mogadishu, football is outlawed by the group Al-Shabab, as it is seen as a game of chance and hence discouraged by the Qu'ran. Nevertheless it is popular with the public and often games are played or watched away from military zones at great personal risk.
